Teeny Tiny

I haven't posted this picture yet. I think this is the day we took James home from the hospital. It's so crazy to see how much he's changed in just 6 weeks. He's 3.5 inches longer and 4 lbs heavier now and his face looks alot different.

Starting to smile

James is starting to smile on purpose (not just by reflex or after passing gas--- though he still does both of those things).

Making Friends

James met one of his new friends last week and he did not really make a good first impression. ha. James woke up from his nap and immediately starting crying which made his friend Nate start crying. It was so cute and funny. Nate is 6 weeks older than James and there is a big difference between them because they grow so fast at this age. Nate starting poking out his bottom lip and pouting when he heard James cry. When James really started to wail, Nate started crying. Me and Amber (Nate's mommy) started cracking up and Bill (Nate's daddy) caught the shot.
They are still good friends and hope to hang out again soon.

Put a little boogie in it

One of my favorite lame jokes is:
How do you make a kleenex dance?
-Put a little boogie in it!

We put James down in his pack and play for a little tummy time. He is getting used to being on his tummy and stayed content for about 10 minutes. When he started crying, I went to get him and found him like this. Yep, that is a boogie on the top of his nose! Steve and I laughed so hard and Steve snapped a picture. We will show his girlfriends when he gets older to really embarrass him.

New pictures

Thigh Meat

James is really starting to put on weight. We went to the doctor this past Thursday (he was nearly 6 weeks old) and he now weighs...get this... 11 lbs 13 oz! I could not believe my eyes when I saw the scale. He was born at 8 lbs even and already almost weighs 12 lbs! Good grief! This is a picture of his thigh meat. Notice the cellulite...

Cross Eyed

It was the weirdest thing....he fell into a well and went cross eyed then a donkey kicked him and they went back to normal. Ha.

swingin'

As a new mom, I just learned that what doesn't work one day might work the next. Everyday is a new day... and sometimes that's a good thing.

Short Story about James

This is a short story about James...

This is how James' mommy likes to see James.
This is how James normally spends his day:
This face is what makes it all worth it...PS- I have no idea what that white crumb is on his lip. Since he is nursing still, I really just don't know what that is. Ha!
PSS- This is what I refer to as the "milk coma". We've come a long way since that first week when there wasnt enough milk to satisfy him. Now, he gets so much, he goes into a coma-like state.

4 weeks old

James was born 4 weeks ago! Can you believe it has already been 4 weeks? It's been the longest-shortest 4 weeks of my life. ha. Today he was pretty cranky all day. He slept for 45 minutes this morning and then for about an hour in the afternoon. I really thought babies slept more than that. Oh well. Not my James.
I took him to the doctor's office today so they could weigh him. Get this... he now weighs 9 lbs 14.5 ounces! This kid has gained an entire pound in a week!
I also found out that James might have an outie belly button...which totally creeps me out/makes me laugh. It might not be the case but there is a possibility. I had the doc look at his belly button because I thought that it looks weird. The cord is still sort of healing and I thought it was herniated (sp?). But, the doc said it could just be an outie! Ha!
That's about all for now...I hope to post more soon.

James' Baptism

My precious angel baby had his baptism yesterday and was surrounded by several family members to support him. He slept through the whole thing and looked adorable. It was so touching to see him go through this sacrament and Steve and I couldn't be happier. His Godmother is my sister, Katie, and his Godfather is my Uncle Ron.
After the baptism, we went back to my house and had a bar-b-que. James slept through pretty much the whole party.
Mrs. Julie, James' Grammy, made the beautiful AND majorly delicious chocolate cake. Isn't she talented?
We had a wonderful day and I just want to thank everyone for joining us on such an important occasion.

Nice to meet ya, Pops

James met his Pops on Friday and all of a sudden, James became the best behaved baby on the block. I think Pops has the magic touch. My mom and I have been telling my dad that James is kind of a fussy baby and doesn't sleep alot. Then, my dad shows up and what does James do? Yep, he has slept most of the day for the last two days. Unreal. I really hope he keeps this up. Plus, he has started sleeping for 2-3 hours at a time at night. I'm getting like 6 hours of sleep a night- although its broken up into shifts- it is much better than 2 weeks ago.

Pops leaves tomorrow and I know James is going to miss him! I keep praying that dad wins the lottery and is able to move here.

Thanks Aunt Gleatie and Uncle Deaner

Isn't this Polo onesie so sharp? His Aunt Gleatie and Uncle Deaner from Germany gave this to him. I can't believe he already fits in it. He will wear this again on Sunday after his baptism. Fancy!

James and Nana and the bandaid

James had his two week check-up yesterday and he is doing great. He now weighs 8 lbs 10.5 ozs. He is pretty average when it comes to weight and length. He measured in the 50-75th percentile in most areas. The doctor laughed at how much he loved sucking his passifier! He got his first shot and he did NOT like it one bit but he did get a really cool bandaid.

Here's a pic of his Nana and him with his Wiley Coyote bandaid. He was a good boy the rest of the day and mom and I went out to eat for lunch. It's SO nice to get out of the house. Ha!

Rain Rain Go Away

It rained cats and dogs over the weekend. Nashville is under water which really surprises me. I thought that we were on high enough ground and didn't have to worry about flooding. The Opryland Hotel is flooded and word on the street is that it will take until December to get it up and running again. Terrible times for Gaylord. Not only are they dealing with trying to figure out how to weather Obama Care but now it has yet another challenge to overcome in this vulnerable economic environment.

Our house in Gallatin faired well but the rain was relentless. Luckily, the dams held up and we were fine. However, Steve and I have decided to apply for flood insurance (since we dont have any as of yet).

Below is a picture of James with Jonathan (Steve's friend from childhood). James is wearing his new swaddle-me that his Nana bought for him. I think he really likes it. It swaddles him up good and tight and he sleeps sound for about 2-3 hours...which is GREAT!
I took the pictures below this morning at about 5a. James is falling into a routine a bit. He has been sleeping for 2-3 hours at a time at night for the past 2 or 3 nights. It has done wonders to my mood. Anyway, he was playing in his bed and was in a great mood because he had a full belly. It was too cute so I had to snap a pic. Don't you love his onesie!
Touchdown!
